Cachaca is a strong alcoholic beverage of around forty percent proof.  It is made from sugar cane juice and is works well when paired with tropical drinks, adding a little kick to your refreshing evening drink.  It was first produced in Portugal in 1532 but the majority of its consumers reside in Brazil.  It is such a popular beverage that 1.3 billion litres of Cachaca are produced annually.  If you would like to experience the traditional taste of Brazil, you should definitely commence the evening with a Cachaca and pineapple juice by the beach.  When asking for the drink at one of Fortaleza's bars you will have either a white or gold version to choose from, the gold one being stronger in terms of alcohol strength.

Peixada Cearense – was invented by the rafters in Fortaleza which was served during stormy weathers on shore to recover strength. Fresh fish (Pmarela, Pargo, Cavala, Robalo and Beijupira) is salted and sprayed by delicious lemon mixed with garlic, and left to drawn in the tasteful juices. Meanwhile a stew of cabbage, carrot, onions, potatoes, tomatoes and eggs is made, and in the very end the fish is added together with natural coconut milk. Most commonly served with Pirao (Mixture of fish sauce with flouer ) and white beans. Very tasty!

Tapioca – Tasteful pasta made from Mandioca, (a root from the rainforest) dipped in sauce, added flour and placed in a stone oven to fry. In general the Tapioca is stuffed with cheese and fresh coconut, but other versions with chocolate, goiaba (Brazilian sweet fruit), doce de leite (very sweet and fresh ).
